A Northern English storyteller and master guitarist with a soul-drenched voice. Chris’s songs are forged beneath the landscape of the bridges and shipyards of working-class Newcastle where he grew up.

A Geordie who wears his heart on his sleeve, Chris takes you on a journey of hedonism, lost souls and deep love whilst mesmerising you with extraordinary finger picking and beautiful melodic chords.

DROWNING SEASON

The debut LP from Chris Allan was released in 2018. Features the title track single "Drowning Season" and "Be Mine".

Drowning Season was recorded in England in the chilly Autumn, This timeless album showcases sublime musicians melding the honest gusto of folk music with captivating stories and stunning originality.

The location at which these songs were captured is no accident. Newcastle born and bred musicians and producers contributed toward this album's inherent geography.

Chris immediately grabs you in with fiery fingerpicking, crazy open tunings and ingenious technique. Once he stabs a chopstick under the strings and plays either side of it to give an oriental effect, and tunes his bass string up and down mid-song, you know you are in the hands of a master guitarist. But it’s his haunting storytelling songs that really pull you in. Firmly rooted in traditional folk and forged forward by a modern pioneer. Chris Allan has arrived.

Chris Allan started playing guitar in his early teens. He made folk music his passion after hearing the early recordings of the late folk pioneer John Martyn.

English 70's folksters Nick Drake and Sandy Denny were also influential, however, it is by fusing the sublime storytelling skill of his favourite folk singers with the passion and intensity of his beloved grunge records that Chris carves his own originality.

Chris Allan has entertained audiences all over Australia, UK & Asia.
